FAQ

Common questions

What is XAU/USD and how is it quoted?

XAU/USD is spot gold priced in US dollars per troy ounce. One standard lot is 100 oz and one pip is 0.01, so the quote reads like 4275.0. Your profit or loss is the dollar change in that quote multiplied by your ounce exposure, then converted to rupees at your account's rate.

What actually moves the gold price during a session?

Gold responds mainly to the US dollar, real interest rates, and demand for defensive assets. Dollar strength usually pressures it; falling real yields usually support it. Central bank buying and physical demand add a slower pull. None of this is predictable in the short run, which is why risk control matters more than forecasting.

When is gold most active for someone trading from India?

Liquidity builds through the London session and peaks in the overlap with US hours, which lands in the Indian evening and night. The Asian session is quieter. Thin hours mean wider price gaps and stops that trigger on small moves, so many India-based traders do their sizing around the busier window instead.

Does the rupee exchange rate matter if I trade XAU/USD?

Yes, at the point of conversion. XAU/USD is priced in dollars, so your profit or loss is dollar-denominated, but a rupee account converts it at the prevailing USD/INR rate. A weaker rupee adds to a dollar gain and deepens a dollar loss. Factor that in when you set targets in rupees.

Is gold trading regulated in India, and where does FxPro sit?

SEBI regulates Indian securities and commodity exchanges, and offshore forex and gold CFD brokers operate outside that framework. FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA — not by SEBI. That distinction matters for how you assess counterparty risk, and it is why sober leverage use and small position sizes are non-negotiable.
