Opening a FxPro account from India: the form, in order

The application is short, but three choices made before you start decide what the account can do later.

1Email and countrythe country decides which entity, and the entity decides your protections2Identity checkphoto ID and an address document3Account typethe spread and commission live here, not in the terminal4First depositthe method you will also withdraw to
The four steps, in the order they actually happen.

Settle three decisions before you type anything

Decide the account type, the base currency and the leverage you will accept before the form opens, because each one is awkward to reverse. FxPro lists Standard, Raw+, cTrader, Elite and VIP accounts; Standard carries no commission with variable spreads, while Raw+ and cTrader charge raw spreads plus a per-lot commission. The choice changes how your gold costs are built, not just the headline number.

Base currency is the second decision. INR is reported as supported alongside USD, EUR and GBP, and it decides the currency your deposits, withdrawals and statements are held in. If you fund in rupees and the account is in USD, every deposit and withdrawal passes through a conversion you did not choose.

Leverage is the third, and it is a cap rather than a target. FxPro offers up to 1:200 in India, and up to 1:500 for eligible traders after an experience and financial assessment. Pick the figure you can actually margin at, then check it against our margin calculator before you submit.

What the form asks, and in what order

Registration comes first: country of residence, name, email and a password, which creates the login but not a trading account. The personal details section follows with address and date of birth, and it must match the document you will later upload — mismatches here are the most common cause of a second attempt at verification.

The questionnaire comes next, covering trading experience, employment and financial situation. This is not decoration: the questionnaire sets the leverage you are offered, so answer it about the account you actually intend to run rather than the most experienced answer you can justify.

Finally you choose the account type, base currency and platform — MT4, MT5, cTrader or FxPro Edge — and confirm the agreement. The minimum deposit is USD 100 or the INR equivalent, but nothing needs to be paid at this stage; the account exists before it is funded.

Where our calculators fit before the first deposit

Run the numbers before you fund, not after. At 1:200 leverage, a 0.10-lot gold position (10 oz) needs about $85.50 margin, and our margin calculator will show the same figure against the leverage you were actually granted. If that margin looks uncomfortable next to your deposit, the answer is a smaller position size, not a larger deposit.

Use the position size calculator to convert a rupee risk amount into a gold lot size using the pip value for XAU/USD, where one pip is 0.01 and a standard lot is 100 oz. The pip value calculator then puts a rupee figure on each pip move so the stop distance has a cost attached.

One caveat to carry with you: FxPro Markets Ltd serves India and is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA — not by SEBI. Leveraged offshore CFD trading sits in a restricted category for Indian residents, so treat the account as a deliberate decision rather than a default one.

The country field sets your regulator, your leverage cap and your funding options before anything else

The country field decides which legal entity holds your account, and that single choice fixes the regulator you can complain to, the maximum leverage you can be offered, and the payment rails you can use. Selecting India routes your application to FxPro Markets Ltd., which is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA — not by SEBI. That caveat is not a formality: it tells you upfront that any dispute sits outside Indian securities regulation, so you should read the client agreement of the entity named on your screen rather than assuming SEBI-style protections apply.

Your country selection also determines the leverage ceiling shown in the account settings. For India, the cap is up to 1:200, with up to 1:500 available only to eligible traders after an experience and financial assessment. Those are maximums, not defaults you should chase. At 1:200, a 0.10-lot gold (XAU/USD) position requires about $85.50 in margin, and the platform will display the exact figure for your chosen size before you confirm. If the country on your application does not match your residence or the documents you later submit, verification will stall and the entity may be reassigned.

The same field controls which funding methods appear at the cashier stage. For Indian residents, the options reported are local INR bank transfers, cards and e-wallets. You will not see a method that is not enabled for the entity serving your country, so if a payment route you expected is missing, the country field is the first thing to re-check. Changing it after submission is not a simple edit — it can mean a new application under a different entity, which is why it is worth confirming before you press continue rather than after your first UPI transfer.

Account types at opening differ by platform and execution model, not by a headline feature

At the moment of opening, the meaningful choice is which platform you will trade on: MT4, MT5, cTrader or FxPro Edge. That selection shapes the order types, charting depth and automated-trading support you get from day one. It does not by itself change the instrument — gold (XAU/USD) is available across the platforms — but it does change how you place, modify and monitor a 0.10-lot position, and whether your existing indicators or expert advisors can be carried over without rebuilding them.

The account type also fixes the execution model you are placed on, and that is what your costs are built from. You were not given a spread, commission or swap number here, and none should be assumed from a marketing label. What the cost consists of is the spread quoted at the moment you trade, any commission attached to the account type, and swap if you hold gold overnight. Each depends on market conditions, position size and holding period, so the honest comparison is to read the cost schedule for the specific account type before you fund it, not to compare type names.

A third difference is the base currency of the account, which affects how your INR deposits are converted and how profit and loss are reported. Choosing a USD-denominated account means your ₹ funding is converted at the cashier stage, and every later withdrawal converts back. Choosing a base currency that matches your funding reduces one conversion step but may not be offered for every account type. Because the available combinations depend on the entity serving India, confirm the pairing on the application itself rather than assuming every platform supports every base currency.

What stays locked after opening: entity, base currency and the identity you verified

The legal entity on your account cannot be changed without a new account. Once your application is assigned to FxPro Markets Ltd. because your country is India, that assignment is what your regulator caveat, leverage cap and funding methods all hang from. Moving to a different entity is not a settings toggle; it is a fresh onboarding under different terms. If your residency later changes, expect to open a new account rather than migrate the existing one, and plan withdrawals from the old account before you close it.

Your account base currency is similarly fixed at opening. You cannot switch a USD account to another base currency later without opening a new account, because historical trades, deposits and statements are all denominated in the original currency. This matters for Indian traders funding in ₹: the conversion happens at the cashier, and the resulting USD balance is what your gold (XAU/USD) margin is calculated in. At 1:200, the roughly $85.50 margin on a 0.10-lot position is a USD figure, so a base-currency change would restate your entire history, which is why it is blocked.

The identity you verify is also locked. The name, date of birth and address on your KYC documents become the account holder record, and they must match the bank or payment instrument you use for INR transfers. A mismatch between the verified identity and the funding source is a common reason withdrawals are held. Correcting a genuine error usually requires re-verification with new documents, and in some cases a new application. Treat the verification step as permanent: submit the documents you will still hold in two years, not the ones that are easiest to photograph today.

Realistic time per step: form, verification, funding and first trade

The application form itself usually takes ten to fifteen minutes if your documents are already at hand. That estimate covers the personal details, the country field, platform and account-type selection, and the experience questions that feed the leverage assessment. It does not cover the time you spend deciding, which is why the decisions are worth settling before you open the page. If you stop to find a document or to compare platform features mid-form, the session can stretch well beyond that window, and some fields may time out.

Verification is the step with the widest range, because it depends on document quality and on how quickly your identity and address checks clear. A clean, legible submission that matches the name on your payment method can clear the same day; a mismatched or blurred document can add several working days while you resubmit. There is no fixed promise you should rely on. The practical lever is preparation: submit the exact documents the entity requests, in the format requested, and expect the clock to start only once the file is complete rather than when you first upload.

Funding and first trade are the quickest steps once verification is done. An INR bank transfer, card or e-wallet deposit typically reflects after the provider's own processing, which varies by method and by bank cut-off times, so the platform cannot shorten it. After the balance shows, placing a gold order takes seconds, and the margin for a 0.10-lot position at 1:200 — about $85.50 — is displayed before you confirm. The realistic total from starting the form to a live position is therefore dominated by verification, not by the trading itself. Plan around that bottleneck rather than the form.

The experience and financial assessment is what unlocks leverage above 1:200, not a request

Leverage above 1:200 is not a setting you can select; it is an outcome of the experience and financial assessment that eligible traders complete after opening. The base cap for India is up to 1:200, and up to 1:500 is available only to those who pass that assessment. The assessment asks about your trading history, your understanding of margin and your financial capacity to absorb losses. Answer it accurately: an inflated answer that unlocks higher leverage also increases the size of the loss a single adverse gold move can produce.

The assessment matters because gold at 1:500 behaves very differently from gold at 1:200 in rupee terms. At 1:200, a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50 in margin; higher leverage reduces that margin requirement, which means the same ₹ deposit controls a larger position and a small price move consumes a larger share of your equity. The cap exists to slow that effect, not to limit your opportunity. Treat any leverage figure as a maximum you may use, never as a target, and size positions from the loss you can accept rather than from the margin the platform allows.

The assessment is also where the account type and your stated experience meet. If you select a platform or account type that assumes automated trading or advanced order handling but your assessment reflects limited experience, expect the higher leverage to be withheld until your profile supports it. That is the system working as intended. You can still trade gold at the base cap from the first funded day; the path to 1:500 runs through honest answers and, where required, a documented trading record, not through a support request.

What to have open in another tab so the country, type and verification choices are made once

Have your identity document, your address proof and the exact name on your INR funding source open before you start, because those three items decide whether the country field, account type and verification all pass on the first attempt. The name on the document must match the name on the bank account or card you will use for UPI or card funding. A mismatch is the most common cause of a stalled application, and it is far easier to catch while the form is still open than after you have submitted and are waiting on a review queue.

Keep the cost schedule for the specific account type and platform visible as you choose, because the type you pick at opening is the one whose spread, commission and swap terms will apply to your gold trades. You were not given those numbers here, and you should not infer them from a label. Read what the cost consists of for that account type — quoted spread at execution, any commission, and overnight swap on XAU/USD — and confirm it matches the platform you selected. Changing type later is not an edit; it is a new account.

Finally, keep a note of the entity name and the regulator caveat shown on your screen: FxPro Markets Ltd., licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA — not by SEBI. That sentence is the one you will need if a dispute arises, and it is easiest to record at the moment it is displayed. Pair it with your chosen base currency and leverage cap so that, once verification clears and your INR deposit lands, you are trading the account you actually intended rather than discovering a locked setting after the first position.

FAQ

Common questions

Which entity will my account be with if I open it from India?

Your account is opened with FxPro Markets Ltd, the entity that serves India. That matters because the regulator named on your paperwork is the one you deal with if a dispute arises. FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA — not by SEBI, so the account sits outside Indian securities regulation.

What does the leverage field in the form actually commit me to?

It sets the maximum leverage on the account, up to 1:200, with up to 1:500 available to eligible traders after an experience and financial assessment. Treat it as a cap rather than a target. At 1:200, a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 margin, and that figure is the useful reference when you decide.

Should I pick MT4, MT5, cTrader or FxPro Edge while registering?

Pick the platform you will actually trade XAU/USD on, because the choice shapes the order ticket you see later. FxPro publishes support for MT4, MT5, cTrader and FxPro Edge. All four reach the same gold market; the difference is the interface and the order-handling detail, so decide before you fund.

Can I deposit in rupees through UPI when I open the account?

Funding is separate from the form, but the methods reported for India are local INR bank transfers, cards and e-wallets. UPI sits inside the local bank-transfer route. Do not enter deposit amounts during registration; the account has to be open and verified before money moves, and the currency conversion is handled at that stage.

What should I do if I am unsure which account type to choose?

Choose the plainest option that matches how you will trade gold, then size your first position on our position size calculator rather than on the account label. The account type changes the cost structure, not the market. If you cannot state what a cost consists of, ask support in writing before submitting.
